Case Study: Governor's PointeThe planned community of Governor's Pointe Virginia features 141 new homes scenically situated on the banks of the Nansemond River in Suffolk, Virginia. Five premier builders offer custom single family homes with gracious amenities. The Village Shoppes and Vintage Tavern, a fine dining restaurant, mark the entrance to the neighborhood. The new housing development is exclusively marketed by Rose & Womble Realty Company. Latest NewsThe Sales & Marketing Council of the Peninsula Housing & Builders Association has awarded Governor's Pointe Virginia its Best Audio/Visual Advertisement/ Website award for 2005. Entries were judged on content, meeting communication objectives, production techniques, budget, and end results. PHBA is the Virginia Peninsula's professional association for the home-building industry, with over 400 member companies.
The ChallengeRose & Womble, with its award-winning Marketing Services Department, chose Crossroads Publishing to implement a full-featured web presence for Governor's Pointe. The original website needed to be redesigned to communicate the unique flavor of the community's English garden feel, as well as its four "villages" named after villages in Britain. Two primary objectives of the new website were to present the full range of model homes and to convey the Governor's Pointe lifestyle. The 2,500 square foot community center is a focal point for the homeowners association and called for special treatment on the web. Our SolutionAt the outset, developing a strong information architecture allowed the broad scope of this site's diverse information to be presented in an organized fashion. Interactive primary and secondary navigation systems give direct access to the various levels of information. Custom website design provides consistent branding of all webpages and an appealing, identifiable look for the entire site. Floor plans for 10 models are presented in two formats, a quick on-screen display plus PDF versions for printing. An interactive site plan provides an aerial tour of the development. The feedback form encourages potential buyers to contact the appropriate sales agents. A Flash photo gallery highlights the community center, showing smooth transitions between slides, custom photo treatments, and an integrated user interface.
